Hello, and welcome to FLX Physical Therapy!

I’m Amanda Robertson, a Physical Therapist in the Finger lakes region specializing in helping runners achieve their rehabilitation and performance goals. As a mom of two active boys, I understand the importance of balancing a busy lifestyle and meeting your fitness goals! I'm passionate about running and bring that enthusiasm to my practice, helping clients overcome challenges and reach peak performance.

  • Physical Therapy

    Ithaca's only Physical Therapy Clinic tailored to treating runners, by a runner! With a comprehensive and wholistic approach to assessing your movement I'm determine the find the root cause of your injury and get you back to running your strongest. I use evidence-based research combined with over 13 years of clinical experience to deliver a unique PT experience you can't receive from your traditional PT practice.

  • Comprehensive Gait Analysis

    This involves capturing high-definition video footage of you running or walking on a treadmill, from multiple angles. I analyze key bio mechanical parameters such as foot strike pattern, stride length, cadence, trunk posture, and limb alignment.

    I utilize the newest technology with assessing internal metrics of running with the use of the Runeasi belt. This is a belt you can wear on the treadmill or outside running. It allows for accurate measurements including dynamic stability, impact loading, and limb symmetry.

    During the analysis, I provide real-time feedback and guidance to help you understand and address any biomechanical inefficiencies or abnormalities identified. This may involve specific exercises, drills, or adjustments to your running technique to improve efficiency, reduce impact forces, and minimize injury risk.

  • Performance Training

    Performance training program is designed specifically for runners looking to enhance their speed, endurance, and overall capacity. I focus on individualized training plans that target strength, mobility, and injury prevention. Whether you’re preparing for your next race or simply want to improve your running technique, this program provides the expert guidance and support needed to optimize your performance and keep you running strong.

I wanted to work with Amanda to look for ways to improve my running - both from an efficiency and injury prevention standpoint.  She did a really thorough evaluation that included assessing my strength, mobility, and running form.  Amanda was terrific - I was particularly impressed with how she was able to come up with really targeted strength exercises to address my weaknesses. The report she shared with me after my visit was really comprehensive and easy to understand.  I really appreciated the actionable suggestions for follow-up. 

Additionally, it was so helpful that she noticed that the shoes I had been running most of my miles in weren't ideal.  She was able to describe exactly what was needed and we worked with the local running store to find a much better option.  She even met me at the store to evaluate the different options, which made a huge difference!

As an added bonus, I appreciated that office parking was so convenient and that my 8 year old was able to hang out and read a book while I met with Amanda. I 100% recommend Amanda - especially to other runners/athletes!
